What are the methods of hydrogen production and the principles of hydrogen production by hydrolysis?
Release Time:2022-04-22What are the methods of hydrogen production and the principles of electrolysis hydrogen production
At present, in order to obtain hydrogen in industrial production, the following methods are usually used:
One: Water vapor is passed through hot iron to produce hydrogen, which is relatively pure, about 97% pure,
Two: hydrogen is extracted from water gas. The purity of hydrogen obtained in this way is also quite low. Therefore, few people use this way to obtain hydrogen. Electrolytic hydrogen production equipment is currently used in industry. It's a way of doing more, but it's also pure. A high purity of more than 99%, which is an important method for the industrial production of hydrogen. In electrolysis of a solution of sodium hydroxide (potassium), gas is released from the anode and hydrogen from the cathode. Hydrogen can also be obtained when sodium hydroxide is produced by electrolysis of sodium chloride aqueous solution.
Three: Water vapor is passed through hot coke to produce hydrogen, but the hydrogen produced in this way is usually only 75 percent pure.
Electrolytic hydrogen production equipment and methods have high requirements on the hydrogen and purity of cooling generators, so they are prepared by electrolytic water method.
Principle of hydrogen production by electrolysis of water
The principle of hydrolysis hydrogen production is very simple, is to use electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, the specific method is: in some electrolyte solution through direct current electricity, the decomposition of the substance and the original electrolyte is completely unrelated to the decomposition of water as a solvent, the original electrolyte is still in the water. Such electrolytes as sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, etc.
In water electrolysis, pure water is a typical weak electrolyte with low ionization and low electric conductivity, so the electrolyte mentioned above needs to be added to increase the electric conductivity of the solution, so that water can be successfully electrolysed into hydrogen and oxygen.
